After premiering on Lifetime and then being added to Netflix’s vast streaming library, dramatic series You has become a total hit for TV fans. This series is based on a novel series by the same name and the first season, which premiered in fall of 2018, was based on the first book in the series while the second series was loosely adapted from the second novel, Hidden Bodies. Both seasons of the series follow a man named Joe and his obsessive infatuation with someone that he meets while at work.

While the first season was set in New York City, the second season shows Joe moving from the Big Apple to Los Angeles to start over with his life. The second season landed on Netflix the day after Christmas in 2019 and had everyone talking. But, once you’ve binged both seasons of this thriller, you’re going to be looking for something new to watch, right?

To see 10 shows to start after you finish season two of You, keep reading!

Sharp Objects

The first season of You only had 10 episodes, meaning that it was pretty quick to watch. If you’re looking for another show that you can sit down and binge in a single weekend, look no further than HBO’s Sharp Objects. Like You, this miniseries is based on a novel and will totally keep you guessing until the very end of the series.

Sharp Objects follows a journalist named Camille who has some serious baggage when it comes to her family and her hometown. She’s forced to face it all when she’s sent back to Wind Gap in order to cover a series of heinous crimes that have left the people living in this small town heartbroken.

Mindhunter

Mindhunter is a Netflix original TV series that began airing on the streaming platform back in 2017. This series is a suspenseful crime drama that will definitely pull in anyone that loves dramatic TV shows and is always trying to solve the mystery before the characters in the show that they’re watching figure it out.

This show follows a group of FBI agents and criminal psychologists that interview imprisoned and convicted serial killers in order to try to  learn about the way they think and, hopefully, use that knowledge to solve crimes in the future. It’s like your favorite true crime podcast, but better because it’s all fictional.

Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars aired from 2010 through 2017 for a total of seven seasons. This series follows a group of high school students who were once best friends until another friend from their group mysteriously went missing. A year after her disappearance, these friends begin receiving ominous and threatening messages from someone who knows all their secrets, forcing them to come back together.

Along with the drama of this series that will definitely draw in fans of You, this series has another special surprise for people that just binged that series. Remember Beck’s best friend, Peach? Shay Mitchell, the actress that played her, plays Emily Fields in this show!

Dead To Me

Dead To Me is a dark comedy that began airing on Netflix in 2019. This series is the perfect blend of hilarious scenarios and dark situations and is perfect for someone that wants something a little lighter than You without going all the way to a sitcom like Modern Family.

The series follows two women named Jen and Judy who meet and bond with one another after meeting in a support group for grieving people who lost their spouses. The two of them are really different, but those differences bring them together. When a dark secret Judy is keeping is revealed, everything changes.

Big Little Lies

Originally marketed as a miniseries, Big Little Lies received a second season in 2019 and had fans of this dramatic HBO show drawn right back in to the drama.

Big Little Lies follows a group of moms who live in Monterey, California and who become friends because their children all attend the same school. Although everyone in this town appears to have it all and be completely perfect and put together, this show reveals that there are some dark secrets hidden under the surface.

Gossip Girl

Even though You was a really intense and darkly dramatic series, it can be a lot of fun to watch something that has slightly more lighthearted drama. If you’re looking for something that’s still dramatic but not quite as heavy as You could be at times, check out Gossip Girl.

This series was based on a young adult novel series and aired from 2007 through 2012. The series, like the first season of You, is based in New York City. It follows a group of upper-class teenagers and all the drama that follows them. And, as a plus to fans of You, Dan Humphrey is played by our very own Penn Badgely, the actor behind Joe Goldberg.

Unbelievable

Unbelievable is a Netflix original miniseries that landed on the streaming service in 2019 and is based on a true story. This series has eight episodes but, like You, is a really dramatic and emotionally intense series that will have you questioning everything with each episode.

This series follows Marie, a teenager who reports an assault that she experienced, only to be found guilty of lying about the entire thing. But, when more people come forward with eerily similar stories of the same things happening to them, the officials begin wondering whether or not she was really lying.

How To Get Away With Murder

How to Get Away With Murder is a dramatic series that began airing in 2014. The series is produced by Shonda Rhimes, the producer behind a ton of other addictive TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy.

The series follows Annalise Keating, a talented and brilliant law professor who teaches a defense law class called “How to Get Away With Murder.” She selects a group of her most promising and talented students from her class to assist herself and her coworkers at her law firm. There, Annalise and her students become tangled up in a crime beyond their wildest dreams.

Russian Doll

Russian Doll is a series that premiered on Netflix in 2019 and stars Natasha Lyonne as Nadia. In this comedic series, Nadia is supposed to be on her way to a party in the heart of New York City. Unfortunately, at the end of each night, she finds herself dying, only to wake up and start the night over the next day. In order to escape this loop, Nadia has to figure out exactly what’s going on.

This idea is one that has been in countless other movies, most recently in comedic horror film Happy Death Day. But that doesn’t mean that it ever gets any less entertaining. And watching this Orange Is the New Black star hilariously try to figure out the mystery of this unusual event makes this show so worth checking out.

Black Mirror

If you’re just not ready to commit to a full TV series after finishing this latest season of You, then you might be interested in settling in and watching an anthology instead. Anthologies are a lot of fun because the episodes aren’t connected by an overarching plot, meaning that you can just check out episodes that interest you and watch them in any order.

Black Mirror is among the most popular recent anthology series and it’s not hard to see why this series is so big. It casts a surreal light on society and technology in episodes that feel futuristic and yet realistic, all at once. There are five seasons and an interactive movie on Netflix to draw you in after you finish You.
